My life and career in Genesee County have always been about service to others. I first came here, after graduating with a Master’s degree in American Government and Politics, to teach at Mott Community College. While teaching more than fifty Political Science courses part-time, I was the full-time President & CEO of Resource Genesee, a local not-for-profit organization. I served in that chief executive role for eleven years, a time that also included holding my positions on local, state, and national boards of directors. I am presently on the boards of the Flint Institute of Arts, the Flint River Corridor Alliance, and the Education Foundation for Flint Community Schools and the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement. In my time at MCC, I’ve been able to closely collaborate with others inside and outside the College to bring millions of dollars into our community to support education and training programs that have positively changed the lives of thousands and thousands of students in Genesee County and beyond.
My significant experiences related to strategic planning, budgeting, program development, managing personnel in both large and small organizations, grant writing and fundraising, and marketing/communications are all skill sets I would bring to the work of the Genesee County Commission. I also possess robust relationships with business, nonprofit, and public leaders across the County and beyond, relationships that I will be able to draw upon as we seek to move our community forward together.
